The Bosville
Nineteen rooms on Bosville Terrace, above the harbour and in the middle of Portree, with the Dulse & Brose restaurant and the Merchant Bar in the building. If the point of a night on Skye is to eat well and walk back without getting into a car, this is the straightforward answer in the village. Two things worth knowing before you click: the hotel is run by Perle Hotels, and its old address, bosvillehotel.co.uk, is dead and now answers with someone else's certificate, so ignore it; and Booking.com still lists the property under its former name, Bosville Hotel.
Best for: People who want to sleep in the village itself and reach dinner on foot.

Good to know
- No tour in our selection starts on Skye. Six of the eight leave from Edinburgh and two are day trips out of Inverness, so a room in Portree is for the island itself, or for a trip you drive yourself.
- Scottish Citylink connects Inverness and Portree. The official winter route page, checked on 4 October 2026, covers 19 September–23 December and advertises up to three services a day. Check the journey planner for your date, exact stops and connections before booking a hotel around a departure.
- Skye is wet, and high season is not the dry part of the year. The Met Office station at Prabost, near Portree, averages 1,769.05 mm of rain a year against 755.02 mm at Inverness, and August averages 124.89 mm against 90.10 mm in May (1991–2020 averages). An overcast day here is the statistical norm, not bad luck.
